Outfits of the Week: September 5 - 8

This week's work outfits are being brought to you a day early and an outfit short, thanks to Hurricane Irma.  The school district where I work cancelled school and work for Friday of this week and Monday of next week and possibly more than that, depending on just how hard we get hit by this monster of a storm.  Hubby and I are as prepared as we can be with supplies and as we don't live in an evacuation zone, we're prepared to just hunker down and ride it out.

If you can't wear pajamas to work, then I guess an elastic waist dress is a decent alternative for the first day of the work week.  Feels like I'm wearing bummy clothes, but looks like I put in effort.  Also, my hair looks like I put in effort to wave it but it's so easy.  Tutorial here!

black 3/4 length cardigan - Boscov's
black buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

All day long I was feeling like these pants had shrunk or something.  They just seemed to have gotten so much shorter than I remembered them and I know I'm not growing any taller!  I even commented about how weird it was to my coworkers.  It wasn't until just now, when I uploaded the photos, that I realized that it's because I was not wearing the full length pants I thought I was wearing, but rather, the ankle length ones that are a different shade of olive.  #needmoresleep

This outfit was perfect for today's tasks.  Most of the day was spent in a cold classroom where I attended a training.  Then during our long lunch break, I was able to take off the blazer to run an errand over to Walgreens to stock up on some hurricane necessities.  We were already good on the real necessities like water, nonperishable food, toilet paper, batteries, flashlights, candles, weather radio, medication and so on.  But this morning as I was drinking my morning coffee, I was reflecting on Hurricane Matthew from last year and realized the one thing we hadn't planned for either time was a way to have coffee in the morning if we don't have electricity.  And this girl needs her morning coffee!  So I ran over to Walgreens and picked up some prepackaged Starbucks Frappuccinos, granola bars, and Cheezits.  Because in times like a hurricane, anything in your routine that you can keep the same will bring just a little bit of comfort.
