Weekly Goal Update: August 20 - 26

August 20 - 26

Another busy, stressful week!  I keep thinking to myself each week that this week has to be better than last week and somehow they keep ending up even worse.  So another brief update this week because my house has been severely neglected and is in desperate need of a good cleaning.

1. Make healthier food choices.
I really tried to eat healthier this week but peer pressure is a thing when everyone you work with is also stressed and constantly offering chocolate!  It’s a weakness for sure.

2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  I was really trying to make a point to walk more this week, including walking to the corner store during my lunch break one day.  It added up to more minutes than I have been getting, but still not my goal.

Sunday: - -
Monday: 34 minute walk
Tuesday: - -
Wednesday: 42 minute walk
Thursday: - -
Friday: 33 minute walk
Saturday: 29 minute walk

Total: 2 hours, 20 minutes

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
I exceeded this goal this week by getting 10,000 steps seven days!  It took some effort but I wanted to burn some extra calories to work off some of that chocolate I was eating.

4. Go to sleep earlier.
Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 9:25:52 PM.  I was so tired every night this week that sleep was a welcome friend.

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:56:50PM.  Not even close this week.  Hubby and I stayed up late Saturday night watching the last episode of The White Queen.

5. Leave some wiggle room.
I was a little better about not eating so much junk this week but I still need to cut back on the sweets.

6. Progress towards goal?
🚫  I gained 0.4 pounds this week and I am now just slightly over my goal weight.  Time to really buckle down, have some self control, and eat better.

Outfits of the Week: August 21 - 25

Another week of work and another week of outfits down in the books.  This was a long and rough week but at least my outfits were cute!  I have to say, I think Monday's was my favorite one to wear.

Monday
Another hard Monday was made easier by another elastic waist skirt.  Thank you to the fabulous person who invented elastic.  And thank you to year ago Pam who wisely bought this skirt.  I can't believe I've barely worn it since.  Did anyone get to view the eclipse?  It was completely cloudy the entire time in my area.  #noeclipsehere

black and white blouse - Kohl's
black cami secret - Burlington Coat Factory
black 3/4 sleeve cardigan - Boscov's
olive green elastic waist skirt - Kohl's
black buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

Tuesday
I had not yet worn these khaki pants with this mustard top so it seemed like a winning combo and any time I can sneak in some olive green, I'm happy.  However, I really need to find a replacement pair of brown flats but I haven't found anything I like.  My friend and I are planning a big shopping day over Labor Day weekend so maybe I'll get lucky then.

mustard fox blouse - Papaya
olive blazer - Amazon
skinny brown belt - Walmart
light fawn essential chinos - Amazon
brown buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

Wednesday
This skirt was not nearly as comfortable as my elastic waist ones are!  It's a very professional and lovely skirt but it's lined with a slippery synthetic fabric that causes the skirt to slide all over the place (at one point the side pocket ended up in front).  But it just looks so dang chic!  However, I think I really just prefer unlined skirts, especially in this hot and humid Florida weather.

pink tie neck blouse - Kohl's
black sparkle cardigan - Kohl's
khaki pencil skirt - Target
black buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

Thursday
I tell you, I just don't love this blazer.  It fits me just fine but I was not digging it today.  It's made of this weird synthetic fabric that just feels plasticky to me and has no shape unless it's buttoned.  Maybe it's just because I was so stressed and irritated all day at work to begin with but this blazer annoyed me all day long.

black tie neck blouse - Kohl's
white and black geometric print blazer - Beall's Outlet
skinny black belt - Walmart
cabernet essential chinos - Amazon
black captoe pointed toe flats - Payless

Friday
Oh sweet weekend, you are finally here!  And I kicked the weekend off right in this very comfortable outfit.  I got a lot of compliments on this necklace, which is a Felix Felicis Harry Potter one from Amazon [almost identical].  Unfortunately, my liquid luck didn't seem to be doing the trick today, as the first half of the day was less than awesome at work.  But it's the weekend now, so it must just be slow release liquid luck or something.  😜

felix felicis necklace - Amazon
navy cardigan - Kohl's
white skinny belt - Walmart
boulder grey essential chinos - Amazon
black captoe pointed toe flats - Payless

Weekly Goal Update: August 13 - 19

August 13 - 19

What a week!  Incredibly busy and stressful so I’m going to make this week’s update as brief as possible so I can squeeze in some much needed relaxation before the start of another busy week.

1. Make healthier food choices.
This week was about a 50/50 split between good choices and terrible ones.  I think when I am really stressed, I have so much more of hard time with self control.

2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  I started out the week well and as work got busier, my goals got further and further from view.  It’s hard when I come home from work late and then work more from home.

Sunday: 33 minute walk
Monday: 24 minute walk
Tuesday: 25 minute walk
Wednesday: - -
Thursday: - -
Friday: - -
Saturday: - -

Total: 1 hour, 22 minutes

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
Much like last week, I got to my goal of 10,000 steps six days this week but it wasn’t easy.  However, I also made an effort to get to my weekly goal of 70,000 steps as well.

4. Go to sleep earlier.
🚫  Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 9:31:20 PM.  So close!  I really tried and I guess one minute off is close enough.

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:33:06PM.  Again, close but no cigar!  At least I did better this week than last.

5. Leave some wiggle room.
I really need to stop eating so much junk!  But everyone I work with is so stressed too so all my friends want to go out to eat and we are all bad influences on each other, sharing in the fried foods and providing each other with chocolate.  Bad habits all around.

6. Progress towards goal?
I gained 0.3 pounds this week but I’m right at my goal weight.  Now I really need to buckle down and get back to working at my goals and taking better care of myself.

Outfits of the Week: August 14 - 18

This week was another crazy one and I think the next few will be as well so last weekend I made a point to select outfits for the next four weeks.  That's just one less thing to worry about and right now, anything that can remove stress is welcome in my life.

Monday
Oh, Mondays!  Why are you so awful?  This was another start to the week where I was up way too late the night before and then just tossed and turned all night and was exhausted the next day.  But I was so happy that if I had to be exhausted, at least I was incredibly comfortable in this elastic waist skirt.  If I could wear an elastic waist skirt every Monday, life would be a better place.

pink sleeveless blouse - Kohl's
black cardigan - Banana Republic Factory
crystal flower necklace - Papaya
khaki elastic waist skirt - Kohl's
black buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

Tuesday
I really loved this outfit!  There's just something about a collared shirt, pointy toe shoes, and a statement necklace that makes me feel so put together.

blue button down shirt - Kohl's (sleeves shortened by me)
beige faceted gem necklace - Body Central
white 3/4 sleeve cardigan - Belk
beige belt - Walmart
mineral blue essential chinos - Amazon
taupe pointed toe shoes - Payless

Wednesday
I don't know why, but every time I wear this blouse, I feel like I can only pair it with black and grey because those colors are both in the blouse.  Next time I wear this, I'm going to challenge myself to wear it with olive because pink and olive always look lovely together.  I just feel rather uninspired by the pattern on this blouse and never feel like going to much effort to style it.

floral pink blouse - Kohl's
grey blazer - Papaya
skinny black belt - Walmart
black essential chinos - Amazon
black captoe pointed toe flats - Payless

Thursday
I just can't decide if I love a collared shirt or a tie neck blouse better.  Don't make me choose, okay?

cadet blue tie neck blouse - Papaya
white stripe cuff blazer - Papaya
brown skinny belt - Walmart
walnut essential chinos - Amazon
brown buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

I purposely picked out this outfit thinking that it would be really comfortable but I was so wrong.  The white top is just a little too long and wide so it was riding up all day and the skirt is just a little too big as well so it was also riding up.  That meant all day long I was yanking at my clothes and feeling annoyed with them.  It looked fine but you better believe the first thing I did when I got home was change into some pajamas.  Happy weekend!

white button down shirt - Beall's Outlet (sleeves shortened by me)
purple shell - JC Penney
deathly hallows necklace - gift
denim skirt - Kohl's
black cardigan - Banana Republic Factory
black buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

Casual Outfits

I've been saving photos of my casual outfits on the weekend for awhile now.  Since they were all taken in the old house, it seemed like it was time to share them with the world and move on to pictures at the new place.  It wasn't until I put all the pictures in one post that I realized I'm wearing the same jeans in every photo!  I guess if it works, why mess with it?  These are definitely my favorite casual jeans for summer time in Florida.  Since they are capris, they're a little bit cooler and more practical for the constant afternoon thunderstorms of Floridian summer.  Since they aren't full length, you don't end up with soaked pants at the bottom.

Outfit 1
blue button down - Kohl's
black 3/4 cardigan - Boscov's
capri jeans - Kohl's
black and white boat shoes - Amazon

Outfit 2
green tee - Vanity Fair Clearance Outlet
necklace - free with shirt at Papaya
pink skinny belt - Walmart
capri jeans - Kohl's
black and white boat shoes - Amazon

Outfit 3
gray and white striped hair bow - Dollar Tree
dried mulberry blouse - Vanity Fair Outlet
capri jeans - Kohl's
cognac braided sandals - Rack Room Shoes

Outfit 4
navy blouse - Vanity Fair Outlet
capri jeans - Kohl's
nautical striped boat shoes - Amazon

Weekly Goal Update: August 6 - 12

August 6 - 12

This week was time to start getting back to a more normal routine.  I worked really hard to go to bed earlier and try to get back on track.  I’m not where I want to be yet but I feel like I’m headed in the right direction.

1. Make healthier food choices.
I’ve been eating okay but I definitely need to make more of an effort to buy more fruit and eat less sweet junk food.  This week’s healthy choices included watermelon, oranges, bananas, carrots, salad, and sandwiches on whole grain bread.

2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  Again, I didn’t get to my exercise goal but I’m slowly getting better each week.  I’m also considering getting a desk cycle because there are days (like Tuesday) where I am so swamped at work that I barely even get up from my desk or chair at meetings and by the time I get home, I’m so mentally exhausted that all I want to do is shower and go to bed.  But for the hours that I’m sitting at my desk, I could be using a desk cycle so that at least I burn more calories than I would if I were just sitting.

Sunday: 10 minutes on stationary bike; 32 minute walk
Monday: 10 minute walk
Tuesday: - -
Wednesday: 20 minute walk
Thursday: 16 minute walk
Friday: - -
Saturday: - -

Total: 1 hour, 28 minutes

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
I got 10,000 steps six days this week but some days it was a real struggle.  The past week was a long one at work, with three hours of training to attend every afternoon and mornings filled with meetings and pounding at the keyboard at my desk for hours on end.  This coming week isn’t looking any better so I really don’t know how I’m going to get my steps in.  There were days this past week where I purposely got up earlier than I needed to so I would have time to get in some steps before I left for work.  And even on those days, I still struggled to get my steps in.

4. Go to sleep earlier.
Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 9:30:44 PM.  This week I really made an effort to go to bed early during the week.  It definitely made a big difference in the rest of my day.  There were far less days where I was sitting in a meeting struggling to stay awake.  I really need to keep it up for next week too.

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:53:43PM.  I wasn’t so successful at going to bed early on the weekend.  I just don’t keep track of time as well on the weekend and before I know it, it’s already late.  I need to focus on this for next week.

5. Leave some wiggle room.
Having a really stressful week at work didn’t really help with the junk food cravings.  By the end of the week, I was looking for better ways to handle my stress, like doing something nice for someone else instead of gorging on chocolate and ice cream.

6. Progress towards goal?
I gained 0.7 pounds this week but I’m still 0.3 pounds under my goal weight.  On Friday when we went grocery shopping, I made an effort to buy more fruit instead of chocolate this time but I also picked up some frozen yogurt for those days when I just really need something sweet and cold.

Ipsy Glam Bag: August 2017

My Ipsy Glam Bag for August came in the mail today, which is weird because I wasn't expecting it.  I'm not sure if my shipping email got lost in my junk mail or if it just never came but it's always a pleasant surprise to find my Ipsy Bag has arrived.

Ipsy
Good Vibes Bag
$??
Let's start by looking at the bag.  When I got the notification that there were three different bag styles available this month, I was really hoping that this would be the one I would get!  I just love the saying as well as the pretty purple and pink color combination.  The other two were equally pretty but this one was just my favorite.  The bag is also really well made with a really nice inner lining.

Seraphine Botanicals
Ginger + Gold Illuminating Peach Gold Blush
$14.00
[link]
I think this has potential to be an amazingly beautiful blush, though upon first swatching, it didn't seem super pigmented because it is so shimmery.  But on my fair skin, that's okay.  I also think it would make a lovely and subtle eyeshadow.  I can't wait to try it out tomorrow!

Glamour Dolls
Romantic Rose Blending Brush
$3.99
[link]
This little blending brush seems awesome!  Mine did come a little bent from shipping but I think with washing and then drying it upside down, it should flatten out just fine.  It's a really good size for blending or even applying shadow to the crease if it isn't something that needs a precise application.  I'm really happy about it and it's also really cute as well.

The Balm Cosmetics
The Balm Voyage Vol II Eyeshadow in Kuwakaribisha
$?? Really hard to get a price on this because it seems to be only sold in  palette form.
[link]
This pretty little eyeshadow seems to be really great - pigmented and shimmery.  I just wish it wasn't so similar to so many other products that I've received from Ipsy.  This is the third shimmery beigey-gold eyeshadow/highlight that I've gotten.  But I think it's the nicest one so far and the one I'm most likely to actually use.

Promise Organic
Nourishing Coconut Milk Face Lotion with Hibiscus
$4.41 (Face Lotion is $14.99 for a 1.7 oz bottle.  I received 0.5 oz.)
[link]
I can't even pretend to get excited about getting lotion or moisturizers in my Ipsy bag.  My skin is very sensitive and I don't like to experiment with things like this on my face.  Maybe if I start giving them all one star reviews they'll stop sending me dinky little lotions?  The only one I really liked was the one with SPF.  More SPF, please!

Steve Laurant
Precision Tip Liner in Black
$??
The link on Ipsy for this product does not actually take you to a page where this product is for sale and doesn't even take you to the page it says you're going.  No clue what's up with that.
Other than the super fishy website business, this product seems pretty good.  It swatched out a nice matte rich black color and seemed to be water resistant but not water proof.  We'll see how it works in the end.

Total Value: $22.40 + bag + eyeshadow + eyeliner

Conclusion: I really have no idea how much this bag was worth since I couldn't find any pricing on two major items.  But you're definitely still getting much more than what you're spending.  Besides the face lotion, I'm really pleased with everything I received and I'm really excited to do my makeup tomorrow and try several items out!  Overall, this bag so far was definitely worth it for me and I'm pretty excited about it.
