Outfits of the Week: July 24 - 27

I had to go back to work this week after being off for the last week and boy was vacation better.  But I feel moved in and settled for the most part.  There are still a few things that I want to do but just haven't had the time until this weekend.  Thank goodness for weekends.

This day we signed our share of the paperwork to close on the house we sold.  This outfit took care of that, as well as grocery shopping and running a bunch of errands on a super hot day.  My idea of casual but not too casual for a summer day and I really enjoyed this outfit.

Mint plaid button down - Kohl's, made into a short sleeve shirt by me
Black chinos - Walmart, made into ankle length by me
Black and white grasshopper boat shoes - Amazon

This was my first day back to work after vacation.  Nothing like jumping right in with a bunch of meetings!  Do I look as tired as I felt?  I just could not be bothered to fuss with my hair this day.  #messyhairdontcare

Peach floral blouse - Papaya
Navy cardigan - Kohl's
Brown belt - Beall's Outlet
Walnut essential chinos - Amazon
Brown buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

And somehow I was even more tired Wednesday.  Probably because I stayed up way too late the night before just trying to get stuff done.  So much still to do!  I could have definitely taken a couple of more days off of work and still had plenty to do at home.

Chambray button down - Kohl's, made short sleeve by me
Mocha blazer - Amazon
Brown belt - Beall's Outlet
Cabernet essential chinos - Amazon
Nautical stripe boat shoes - Amazon

StIll tired!  There's just something about coming back to work after time off where you feel so busy both at work and at home and you really just want to crawl up in a ball in the corner and ignore the whole world.  Is that just me?  Especially when working ten hour days.  The work days are so long and I have no time to get anything done by the time I finally get home.

Black tie neck blouse - Kohl's
Charcoal cardigan - Papaya
Black skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
Chili red pants - JC Penney
Grey faux suede and snakeskin pointed toe flats - Payless

Outfits of the Week: July 17 - 18

This week is going to be only two outfits because I took the second half of the week off from work to unpack and get the old house cleaned and get the new house settled. So the pictures are a little wonky this week, as my normal bright lights are packed up! But I did the best I could with what was available to me.

This day I was able to take my photos using the natural sunlight streaming in to our guest bedroom windows. Yay for sunshine! They aren't my best photos but they work.

Navy shirt dress - Ross
Burgundy window pane cardigan - Kohl's
Taupe pointed toe flats - Payless

This day I had to take my photos in a dark room with only one ceiling fan light before the sun had even come up so I apologize that they did not turn out well at all! But I'm devoted to photographing my work outfits daily at this point and that was the best I could do considering that we were moving the rest of our stuff this day. Hopefully by next week I'll have the new room all set up and ready to take better pictures again!

Black pintuck blouse - Sears
Grey cardigan - Kohl's
Moss essential chinos - Amazon
Black skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
Black captoe pointed toe flats - Payless

Ipsy Glam Bag: July 2017

My July Ipsy Glam Bag arrived this week and I am really excited to share with you what I received.

Gudetama Bag
While I can't really get on board with a fried egg on a makeup bag, this bag is really well made and not too small.

Beau Gâchis
Illuminator Brush

I'm excited about this brush but I'm a little unsure about it.  When I saw the preview of what was in my bag, I thought this was going to be bigger.  In real life, it's basically the size of a large eyeshadow brush.  I won't be able to test it out for a little bit though, as all my highlights are currently packed for the move.

Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

$9.75 for 10mL ($39.00 for 40mL)
I'm fine with getting a moisturizer in my bag, but if it doesn't have SPF, I really have no use for it.  I guess I'll give this a try but I can't really get excited about it.

Ciaté London
Wonderwand Gel-Kohl Hybrid Liner in Black

$13.09 for 0.8g ($18.00 for 1.1g)
Now this is right up my alley!  Since I got my Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in my May Ipsy Bag, I've been loving using it and either smudging it afterward with a brush or applying it with a brush.  So I think if this eyeliner formula is good and the black is opaque, I could really love it.

OFRA Cosmetics
Eyeshadow in Gold Rush

$10.00 for 2 g
I'm excited about this eyeshadow because it's a perfect simple color that's really versatile.  My favorite shadows right now are matte but I think this color would make a really nice one shadow look.  I can't wait to try it!

Trifle Cosmetics
Raspberry Ripple - Ombré Radiance Blush Palette

$17.95 for 3g
When I saw my Ipsy preview online, I was so excited about this!  And then I got it and saw how absurdly small this is and the excitement wore right off.  This is so small I literally have eyeshadow trios that are bigger.  You would really have to be creative to get a blush brush into just one of these three colors.  I'll give it a try for sure and if it works out, it would be great for travel but my first impression is that it's just ridiculously too small to be useful as three separate blushes although I guess you could mix the three and it would still be smaller than most single blushes.

Total Value: $60.74 + bag

Conclusion: This bag was hit and miss for me.  I couple of things I'm excited about trying and a couple of things I'm disappointed in.  All in all, I still think it was worth it for $10 but I don't think it will be my favorite bag.

* I purchased this bag with my own money.

Outfits of the Week: July 10 - 13

Well tomorrow we sign our lease and hopefully we can get the keys at the same time and start cleaning the new house! There is so much to do. My mind is going a mile a minute thinking of it all! Let's calm it down for a few minutes and break down my work outfits from the past week.

Can I have one hundred of these tie neck blouses, please? They are so cute, classy, and easy to wear with anything. Although, come to think of it, I've really only worn them with pants so I guess I need to make an effort to wear one with a skirt next.

White cardigan - Kohl's
Black floral tie neck blouse - Papaya
Black skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
Walnut essential chinos - Amazon
Black cap toe pointed toe flats - Payless

This was the day of my beach retreat for work and while this is not the most beachy outfit, it was the most appropriate thing I had that wasn't already packed and I love how the high low hem looked with shorts. On the plus side, I wasn't showing a ton of skin and I'm happy to report that my porcelain skinned self only got sunburnt in a couple of tiny places where I didn't blend in the sunscreen well enough. SPF 70 friends, it's a good thing.

Blush floral blouse - Papaya
Tan tank top - Walmart
Olive shorts - JC Penney
Black braided sandals - Rack Room Shoes

This outfit was simple but really cute. I've been trying to get more wear out of my dresses. I left quite a few of them unpacked since a dress is such an easy outfit. One thing and you're done, unless of course, your office is like my current one where the temperature fluctuates between freezing and normal on an hourly basis. In that case, you'll also need a cardigan.

Black convertible sleeve dress - Target
Black cami secret - Burlington Coat Factory
Blue cardigan - Kohl's
Black cap toe pointed toe flats - Payless

Another one of my favorite blouses! I think I've also worn this pair of cabernet pants in every way I could possibly think of until somehow I start pairing them with new tops and they just seem to work.  Maybe next time I'll pair them with the black blouse I wore on Monday. One more outfit planned!

Navy and beige tie neck blouse - Papaya
Charcoal cardigan - Papaya
Cognac skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
Cabernet essential chinos- Amazon

Taupe pointed toe flats - Payless

And a special bonus photo grid from our beach retreat!  Guess who's feet are the super pale ones?  😄

Weekly Goal Update: July 2 - 8

July 2 - 8

Still more packing!  How is it that just when I think pretty much everything is packed, I find there’s even more left to box?  Ugh, I can’t wait to finally be moved in and settled again.  We start moving in and cleaning on Saturday of this week and the moving truck and the fellas move the furniture on Tuesday of next week.  The next two weeks are going to be busy and I anticipate that next week I probably won’t have time for a Weekly Goal Update.

1. Make healthier food choices.
Our house is currently not stocked with as many healthy choices as I’d like just because we didn’t want to buy a bunch of food just to have it go to waste with the move so soon.  And I’m feeling it with my hands and feet retaining water like they used to from all the salt I’m taking in.  I’m quite looking forward to getting settled and being back to healthier eating and not feeling so crummy because I’m eating so crummy.

2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  So close this week but I still didn’t quite make my goal of 150 minutes.  Seven minutes short!

Sunday: 10 minute walk
Monday: 33 minute walk
Tuesday: 51 minute walk
Wednesday: 29 minute walk
Thursday: 10 minute walk
Friday: 10 minute walk
Saturday: - -

Total: 2 hours, 23 minutes

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
At least I’m getting in 10,000 steps a day consistently.  My weekly total was 71,563 steps and my best day was Tuesday with 10,615 steps.

4. Go to sleep earlier.
🚫  Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 10:11:44PM.  My entire bed time schedule this week was thrown off thanks to the Fourth of July holiday and a few rotten neighbors who think it’s acceptable to set off fireworks in a highly populated residential area at all hours of the day and night the entire week.  And the glorious thing about living in a townhouse is that the explosions are literally feet away from your bed.  Have I mentioned I’m looking forward to moving?

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 11:05:41PM.  More explosions and loud music… thanks, neighbors.

5. Leave some wiggle room.
I tried to eat less junk food this week but I definitely feel like I failed there just because what we have left in our house to eat is mostly the nonperishable stuff in our pantry that I normally try to avoid.  Also, what’s the Fourth of July without hotdogs and potato chips?

6. Progress towards goal?
I gained 1.4 pounds again this week so I’m right about where I want to keep my weight.  I actually wouldn’t be surprised if I lose a little just because the next two weeks will be so busy with cleaning, packing, moving, unpacking, and getting the new house all set up.  Hopefully things can start feeling normal again soon though!

Outfits of the Week: July 3 - 6

This was a short week thanks to the Fourth of July so I only have three outfits to share with you.  Even though this was a short week, the break in routine has left me exhausted and I am so looking forward to sleeping in this weekend!  And then I have some things I need to get done around the house, as this is the last full weekend that we'll be at our current house.

I loved this cute and festive outfit that was perfect for work the day before Independence Day.  Somehow I had forgotten that I had that white button down.

white button down shirt - Beall's Outlet
red cardigan - Kohl's
red bead necklace - gift
cognac skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
mineral blue essential chinos - Amazon
nautical stripe boat shoes - Amazon

This picture is actually the only time I wore the pink cardigan in this outfit.  I was running around outside a lot and it was hot this day so I rolled up the sleeves of the dress on my way out the door and that's how they stayed for the rest of the day.

black and white print dress - Target
white cami secret - Burlington Coat Factory
pink cardigan - Kohl's
black cap toe pointed toe flats - Payless

I just love this blouse and somehow I hadn't yet paired it with olive chinos.  I remedied that today and loved the outcome!

navy floral blouse - Papaya
navy cami secret - Amazon
white 3/4 sleeve cardigan - Belk
moss essential chinos - Amazon
cognac skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
taupe pointed toe flats - Payless

Empties: April - June 2017

Three months worth of empties!  I guess that happens when life is busy.  I sort of forgot all about these until I used something up the other day and went to toss it in my empties bin and thought to myself that I really didn't want to have to move a bunch of empty garbage items so now seemed like a great time to share them.  And anything that gets finished in the last two weeks before the move will just be going straight into the recycle bin or trash can.

Skin Care:
1. Equate 2-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths - I use these to remove makeup at the end of the day.  I don't like the Equate ones as much as the Olay but they are a lot less expensive.
2. Clean & Clear Essentials Foaming Facial Cleanser - This is my face wash of choice.  It's inexpensive, easily accessible, and works really well for my sensitive skin.
3. Up & Up Baby Hair & Body Wash - Again, this product is great for my sensitive skin.  My skin seems to dislike any sort of harsh cleansers but if it's good enough for baby, it usually works well for me too.
4. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes - I used this small pack when I traveled to Boston.  I used these sort of towelettes to remove any leftover eye makeup that creeps up while I sleep.  Waterproof mascara is usually pretty hard to completely remove at night when I wash my face so these take care of that issue.
5. Top Care Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes X2 - Same purpose as above.  These incredibly inexpensive ones from Top Care are my favorite.  They get the job done at half the price or less of name brand towelettes and they don't irritate my eyes at all like some brands do.
6. SPF Rx Ultra Clear Daily Skin Hydrator SPF 50 - This item was sent in my Ipsy Glam Bag for June and I loved it!  It was a great moisturizer with a high SPF that actually didn't irritate my skin like most SPFs do.  I would order this online in full size if we weren't about to move.  Maybe after we're all settled in the new house?
7. Cerave Eye Repair Cream - This is my go to under eye cream.  It's moisturizing without feeling greasy and it's affordable.

Hair Care:
1. Not Your Mother's Double Take Dry Finish Texture Spray - Love this stuff!  If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of the NYM line of products.  This spray gives my roots some life without being too heavy.
2. Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray - I love this product for when I style overnight waves in my hair.  It's also great to add some grip to second day hair when you want to do an updo.
3. Garnier Fructis Root Amp Root Lifting Spray Mousse - I use this stuff every time I wash my hair to add body to my limp roots.  It works great!
4. Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo - Dirty hair?  Don't care!  This stuff is the best dry shampoo I've found and it's super cheap and easy to get ahold of, even if it does leave a white cast in my dark hair.
5. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist - This is another product that I love!  I've used this deep conditioner two to three times a week for most of my life.  It helps keep my hair manageable, especially now that it's getting pretty long.

1. e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set - This is a great setting mist for just eliminating that powdery look.  However, I've been experimenting with a couple of other ones lately that give me a more natural, slightly glowy look and I've been enjoying them a lot too.
2. Covergirl Lash Blast Waterproof Mascara in Very Black - This mascara is so good, especially for the heat, humidity, and constant downpours that accompany summertime in Florida.  I'm almost out of the tube I have right now and I really want to repurchase it again but I have so many other waterproof ones already open that I'm forcing myself to use them up first.  But I really just want to use this one because it's so waterproof, very black, and gives me great length and volume without flaking.  It's basically perfect.
3. Carmex Original Lip Balm - I have this stuff everywhere!  I never leave home without my trusty Carmex and if I do, you bet I'll be buying it at the first store I see.  It keeps my lips moisturized and only costs a buck.  Add a tiny dab on over lipstick and you have an instant shine.

That's it for my empties for the last few months.  I think the only thing I'll be finishing that you might not see before our move is a can of NYM dry shampoo and another tube of Lash Blast mascara.

Weekly Goal Update: June 25 - July 1

June 25 - July 1

I did some more packing this week and also some fun new house shopping and had a generally very busy week.  As far as my goals are concerned, being so busy and being out and about so much meant a lot more eating out than I usually do but since I’m still trying to gain back some weight, I went for all the yummy things.

1. Make healthier food choices.
I made an attempt to eat more fruit this week so that was an easy task to accomplish.  Otherwise, when I’m eating at home we’re mostly trying to make our way through eating the items in our pantry and freezer so we won’t have to move them.

2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  This was another week where I got in lots of activity through packing but also made an effort to do some walking after sitting at work all day.  Working four ten hour days in the summer is not awesome when you spend all day in a desk chair or a conference table chair.

Sunday: - -
Monday: 20 minute walk
Tuesday: 19 minute walk
Wednesday: 18 minute walk
Thursday: - -
Friday: 59 minute walk
Saturday: - -

Total: 1 hour, 59 minutes

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
Another week of 10,000 steps every day!  My step total for the week was 73,323 and my best day was Saturday with 12,020 steps.

4. Go to sleep earlier.
🚫  Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 9:31:52PM.  So even though I didn’t make my goal, I was only off by one minute.  No big deal.

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:32:03PM.  For the weekends I was only off by two minutes so I feel like over all I still did pretty well this week.

5. Leave some wiggle room.
Junk food galore!  I ate out so much this week!  Places I went included Woody’s BBQ, Pizza Hut, Johnny Rockets, Subway, and Sonic.  I have a stomach ache just thinking about it.  Hopefully this week will be less busy and I can eat at home or pack my lunch more often.

6. Progress towards goal?
I gained 1.4 pounds this week but I’m still under the weight that I want to be.  I’m getting closer though.  But I definitely need to lay off the junk food a little and try to gain weight by eating more healthy calories instead of deep fried foods.
