Weekly Goal Update: June 11-17


June 11 - 17

My life could slow down any time now and that would be great!  Within forty-eight hours of listing our house, we were under contract.  And all of that happened while I was in Boston for work!  Now we need to find a place to move to and fast!  We’ve decided to rent in the area we think we would like to buy to be sure we’re happy there before we commit to buying, since the area is an hour away from where we’re currently living and that’s a big change.  So now we’re on the hunt for a house to rent.  I also moved offices this week from one town to another and we’ve started the process of purging our belongings and packing them all up.



1. Make healthier food choices.
 I tried to make good choices this week while traveling by grabbing healthier snacks at the airport like bananas and watermelon.  By I also ate my fair share of junk because when your plane gets delayed and your next flight is boarding, hunting down fruit takes more time than grabbing Chic-Fil-A!  So this week was a real mix of healthy and total junk.


2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  Exercise has just not been a priority lately with all the other things we’ve had to do.  But I squeezed in a bit while doing all the other crazy things this week.  Particularly, on Sunday while our house was being shown to prospective buyers, we went to the mall and just walked around.  I also made a point to walk to dinner in Boston on Monday instead of taking the shuttle.

Sunday: 41 minute walk
Monday: 11 minute walk

Saturday: 36 minute walk

Total: 53 minutes


3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
 Once again, I nailed this goal with 10,000 steps seven days this week.  My best day was Sunday with 15,628 steps.  My total for the week was 79,795 steps.


4. Go to sleep earlier.
🚫  Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 10:40:23PM.  But to be honest, the real story is worse than that.  Sunday night we got our first offer on the house and things got real very fast and I could not fall asleep until almost 2AM and I had to get up for my flight at 3:30!  Then a late night on Monday in Boston because of our late dinner and a late night on Tuesday because our flight home was so late meant I was exhausted all week.  Luckily, I’m on four ten hour work days for the summer and I got to sleep in a little on Friday before taking our kitty to the vet for oral surgery.  She’s fine but just had some bad teeth because she’s getting old.

  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:18:24PM.  All that madness during the week meant I was ready to sleep this weekend.  I went to bed early every night and woke up pretty early too so I’m hoping I’ll be able to slide right back into my weekday schedule tonight.  


5. Leave some wiggle room.
 Caffeine and junk food were the story of this week!  The company that flew us out to Boston spoiled us with an amazing and delicious five course meal including filet minion.  I also indulged in a feast of fried appetizers at a retirement party and also inhaled a Chic-Fil-A fried sandwich and waffle fries on my way to our last flight.  I ordered a fried chicken sandwich and fries at Outback with my hubby and by the middle of the week was feeling really lousy!  It’s amazing how what you eat and drink really affects how you feel and I was quite happy to be back home and get back to drinking more water and eating healthier food.


6. Progress towards goal?
 This week I lost another 1.0 pound.  I’m not even really sure how because I ate so much garbage.  I know I wasn’t actively exercising but I’ve still been really active with purging and packing so maybe that’s it?  Or maybe stress?  I’m not going to worry too much about it because I know I’ll probably gain whatever I’m losing as soon as we get into a more settled and normal life again but it’s something I’m trying to monitor because I don’t want to lose too much weight and put myself into an unhealthy place.  There’s a fine balance between healthy weight loss and too much weight loss.  Plus all my pants are falling off of me now and I do not want to buy a bunch of new pants!

Outfits of the Week: June 12 - 15


At this point I feel like it's redundant to say it was a crazy week but it definitely was!  I spent Monday and Tuesday in Boston for work.  During the time that I was gone, we received three offers to buy our house and accepted one!  We're now under contract.  When I went back to work on Wednesday, I unpacked and moved into my new office and Thursday I worked all day and then went to a retirement party.  Since this week started our summer work hours, we worked ten hours Monday through Thursday and are off on Friday.  I wish I could say that Friday was slower but we had to take my cat to the vet for surgery to remove some bad teeth.  Busy!


Monday
Day one of travel consisted of a 7:00AM flight to Boston.  I knew time would be tight so I took Monday and Tuesday's pictures in advance.  Then I ended up having to change my shirt at the last minute on Monday because I spilled something on it!  It turned out later to just be water but I didn't have time to investigate before heading to the airport to catch my early flight.  I wanted something that was comfortable for two early morning flights and a long day of meetings but still looked semi professional and able to be layered.  Chinos, loose blouse, boat shoes, and a cardigan to toss over and I was out the door.

Tuesday
Another day of meetings and flights so I wanted the same sort of outfit.  I recycled the cardigan so I didn't have to pack as much, since we were only allotted a carry on and personal item.

Wednesday
After several nights in a row of very little sleep, I was exhausted this day and still had to go to work so I wanted more comfy clothes.  Chinos and boat shoes!

Thursday
And on Thursday I was to dress in a theme for a retirement party: black and white!  Since the party was outside, it was easy to remove the cardigan and be party ready.

Weekly Goal Update: June 4-10


June 4 - 10

Another crazy week!  More cleaning, meeting with the bank, realtors, photographers, marketing, viewing houses, listing our house, and clearing the house for showings.  Hopefully this house sells for what we’re hoping it will.  I tell you though, buying and selling a home is stressful business.  Let’s see how I did with my goals while dealing with all the stress and madness.


1. Make healthier food choices.
 I was so busy this week I barely had time to think about junk food.  I ate healthy for the most part because I was too busy to think much about what I was eating and just grabbed for the healthy stuff we had in stock.


2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  We finally got ahold of the treadmill company and cancelled our order.  Apparently it shipped partway to us, got damaged, and then they cancelled the order without ever telling us so we just decided to wait until we know where we’ll be living before trying that again!  While I was really busy this week, I got very little “official” exercise.

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
 I got way more steps than that just from being so busy with all the cleaning, prepping and other work to get our house ready to show.  Sunday I got 17,317 steps just by cleaning and painting and Monday I got 18,089 doing the same.  I even got 15,913 steps on Friday!  Holy cow!  While I got less official exercise this week, I was definitely way more active than normal with a total step out of 95,041.


4. Go to sleep earlier.
🚫  Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 9:54:52PM.  Too much to do and not enough time to do it!

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:54:15PM.  One night staying up until after midnight getting everything finished up kicked our butts.


5. Leave some wiggle room.
 Another week of using caffeine as a substitute for sleep.  I hope things slow down soon but I don’t see that happening any time in the near future.  Meanwhile, I need to just go to bed earlier.  Then there was also Friday night, where we were exhausted, had nothing for dinner, and pigged out on Taco Bell.  Nom.



6. Progress towards goal?
 This week I lost another 0.6 pounds, which means I’m down about a pound and a half below my goal weight.  I plan on pigging out a bit in the next week to try to get back up to weight because right now all my pants are falling off of me and I don't want to buy all new pants!  All the additional activity without many more additional calories probably contributed to my weird weight loss the last couple of weeks.  I don’t anticipate that sticking around though, because I have to travel for work for the next two days and the company has paid for all of our meals and you know they’re going to be good.  I plan on indulging in hopes of getting my weight back up where I want it.  Overly baggy pants are not flattering.

This is a matte rose colored eyeshadow.  I'm not sure how I feel about using it as an eyeshadow, but I think it would make a beautiful blush.  I'll have to give it a try and see how I like it.  It definitely swatches nicely though and I'm excited to have a matte eye shadow to try.

This might seem silly but I'm really excited to try this!  I've been looking for a moisturizer with a high SPF but all the ones I've tried either break me out in hives or don't agree with my skin in one way or another.  Hopefully this one is compatible, although if I like it, it's pretty expensive.

Another item I'm really excited about getting!  I just generally love experimenting with lip products and anything NYX usually rocks my world.  Hopefully the color works for me but it looks pretty neutral and universally flattering.

Another awesome product!  I wouldn't normally go for a metallic gold eyeliner but I think this could look really pretty as a lower lash liner.  It will all depend on how well it stays put!  We can't have lower liner smudging and running down the face in these hot and humid summer days.

And another thing I'm thrilled to receive!  I've always been curious about theBalm's blushes but I've never bought one myself.  This color looks really pretty and like the sort of blush I would go for.  My only concern is that it is so small!  It's the size of a small single eyeshadow and I'm wondering how hard it will be to get a brush in there.  The pictures made it look so much bigger in my Ipsy preview.  However, this tiny blush is the perfect size for the overnight trip I'm taking for work this week!  It might end up coming with me if it works out with a brush.

Conclusion: I am so happy with my bag!  I think that's probably because it's almost all makeup.  And for the most part, I think the makeup items that I got are things that I will end up liking.  Score for Ipsy Glam Bag this month!

Outfits of the Week: June 5-9


Another crazy week!  It's already getting late today and I've got another busy day tomorrow so let's break down the outfits so I can get some much needed sleep.


Monday
This day I took off from work to clean and paint before the realtors came the next day.  This is what I wore when I had to run out to Lowe's for more paint.  Throw on some clothes, throw the hair in a ponytail and run out the door!

Friday

Weekly Goal Update: May 28 - June 3


May 28 - June 3

This week was absolutely crazy!  We’ve been painting, cleaning, and decluttering our house before the real estate agent comes over to talk to us about the possibility of selling.  That’s been a full time job this week because our house was in desperate need of some TLC.  Then we celebrated our wedding anniversary this week as well.  House work has taken top priority over going to bed early and exercising so let’s break down just how bad this week was for my goals.


1. Make healthier food choices.
 I’m kind of proud of how well I was still able to eat even while being so busy.  It’s easy to do so when your panty and fridge are stocked with quick healthy options like strawberries, pineapple, grapes and carrots!


2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
 Another week of no treadmill.  I’m starting to wonder if it’s ever coming.  And if we do decide to sell our house it’s going to stay in the box until we move.  I also feel like all this cleaning and painting should count as exercise because I certainly wouldn’t have gotten as many steps this week without all that extra work!

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
 Every day this week was 10,000 steps or more.  Thanks to the massive amount of painting and cleaning I did on Friday after work, I racked up 15,144 steps!  My total for the week was 83,448 which is 13,448 steps over my goal for the week!  Wow!


4. Go to sleep earlier.
🚫  Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 9:45:14PM.  Too many nights staying up trying to decide if we do or don’t want to sell.  Being an adult and making adult decisions is hard.

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 11:31:31PM.  I blame cleaning and painting on this.  There’s just so much to do and not enough hours in the day!



5. Leave some wiggle room.
 I drank a lot of diet soda this week in a feeble attempt to compensate for my lack of sleep.  It didn’t really help!  And for our anniversary, we had some yummy cheesecake bites.  They are from Archer Farms (available at Target) and are so so good!


6. Progress towards goal?
 I lost another 0.2 pounds this week and am somehow now a pound below my goal weight.  I think it’s probably just from all the activity I’ve been doing this week considering that I really wasn’t all that focused on eating well or exercising.  But being more active helps burn more calories.

Outfits of the Week: May 30 - June 2


This week consisted of absolute mayhem in my life, as my husband and I have been sort of toying with the idea of looking into selling our home.  We're not positive just yet about what we want to do, but we have a realtor coming to talk to us on Monday.  One thing I know either way is that our house is currently filthy and needs lots of cleaning before then.  It also needs some paint to change our pumpkin colored bathrooms (What were we thinking?!?) to a more palatable color.  That change is happening whether we decide to sell or not.  Either way, this already short week was a blur of scrubbing and painting and there's still a ton left to do so the rest of this post is going to be kept short.


Tuesday
This week for some reason I decided I wanted to wear my hair differently every day.  Tuesday we started things off with overnight waves using this method.

Wednesday's loose waves were created using a one and a half inch barrel curling iron to add a volumizing wave to the bottom half of my hair.

Thursday
This hair was left over waves from the day before pulled back into a simple ponytail.  Sometimes a lack of sleep means a lack of creativity.  At least I changed up my look with a skirt instead of pants.

Friday
For the final hairstyle, I used that same one and a half inch curling iron to turn curl just the ends of my hair.  I like how that gives it some bounce.  And another change up was wearing a dress.
