Outfits of the Week: June 26 - 29

This week I'm starting to feel like maybe there is a little less to do before our move.  I got some actual boxes packed and started the process of changing our address in one hundred different places.  There's still a lot to do though and today I'll be accomplishing a trip to Ikea, which is a total necessity for any move.

Monday
I love the layered look of this outfit and it worked out well since I ended up wearing the cardigan most of the day thanks to the freezing cold air conditioning.

gray short sleeve button down - Ann Taylor Outlet (sleeves shortened by me)
pink cardigan - H&M
black skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
black essential chinos - Amazon
black cap toe pointed toe flats - Payless

Tuesday
Once again, even though it's summer I spent the whole day with the cardigan on.  Why do they have to run the air conditioning constantly in my office?

navy long sleeve shirt dress - Burlington Coat Factory
white cardigan - Kohl's
cognac pointed toe flats - Beall's Outlet

Wednesday
This day I wasn't sure if I was going to have to go to a meeting with upper leadership or not so I dressed prepared for both.  I ended up wearing the outfit on the right but with the flats instead of heels since I didn't have to go to the meeting.  Instead I was able to get lots accomplished in my office that day.

pink floral blouse - Kohl's
khaki blazer - Goodwill  (Talbots brand)
skinny cognac belt - Beall's Outlet
olive ankle chinos - Walmart
brown buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes
cognac heels - Aerosoles

Thursday
So sorry these pictures are sort of off - I didn't realize until after I took all the pictures that there was a fingerprint on the camera lens.  Oh well!  Live and learn.

bright coral blouse - Kohl's
black ankle chinos - Walmart
black buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

Weekly Goal Update: June 18 - 24

June 18 - 24

With only three weeks left being in our current house full time, the name of the game this week has been packing and purging.  There is currently a knee high stack of flat boxes in our dining room and a healthy supply of packing tape.  We can officially move in on July 15th but our plan is to spend that weekend cleaning and moving in smaller items and then the fellas and the moving truck will move the rest of our furniture and larger items during the week.

1. Make healthier food choices.
This week was a crazy mix of making good choices and eating junk while on the road.  I had several trainings today where lunch was either provided or we were on the road at lunch time.  I ate healthy where I could an indulged in tacos and fried foods a couple of times as well.

2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  Most of my activity lately has been packing and cleaning but I did manage to get in some walking in the evening after sitting all day at work.  And while I paced in my house, I had time to think about all the things I need to get done before the move.  That might sound like a bad thing, but walking gave me time to focus on some tasks I needed to complete and work some things out in my mind while moving.  It’s actually been pretty therapeutic but I still haven’t gotten to my two and a half hour total.  That goal may have to wait until life slows down.

Sunday: 16 minute walk
Monday: 16 minute walk
Tuesday: 13 minute walk
Wednesday: 23 minute walk
Thursday: 49 minute walk
Friday: - -
Saturday: - -

Total: 1 hour, 59 minutes

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
Ten thousand steps every day this week!  Just barely ten thousand but at least I got 10,751 on Thursday and a total step count for the week of 71,256.

4. Go to sleep earlier.
Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 9:20:49PM.  One night I went to bed at 8:30!  I was just really tired and happy to be able to sleep in my own bed after all the exhaustion of last week.

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:50:12PM.  While I would have been more than happy to go to bed early every night of the weekend too, noisy neighbors had other ideas.  Have I mentioned I’m looking forward to moving?

5. Leave some wiggle room.
All the fried foods!  I’ve been really craving deep fried junk and since I’m trying to gain a little weight, I figured now was a good time to indulge.  It’s funny though, I definitely can’t eat as much as I used to.

6. Progress towards goal?
I didn’t lose or gain any weight this week so I guess that’s good.  I definitely am not going to start eating fried food all the time though… boy did my stomach hurt afterward!  Maybe I need to try to get more calories in by eating more fruit now instead of junk until I’m back to the weight I want to be.

Outfits of the Week: June 19-22

Another week of outfits and another week of life gone by.  We found a house to rent this week so that took one stress off of my plate which was quickly replaced with another when we got a phone call from our vet that our kitty who had oral surgery last week has aggressive and inoperable cancer.  There is nothing we can do but love her, spoil her, and remember the fact that she has had a long and happy life with us.  She is eating and playing just fine right now but it is heartbreaking to know that her time with us is ticking away.  It makes taking pictures of outfits and sharing them feel silly but I just need something normal in my life right now to distract me from the sadness.

Monday
I loved this outfit!  It's really simple but I just felt so slim and chic in it.  I feel like I always love outfits I put together with these pants so maybe I need to wear them more often.

navy zip back blouse - Vanity Fair Outlet
charcoal cardigan - Papaya
cognac skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
chili red skinny pants - JC Penney
taupe pointed toe flats - Payless

Tuesday
This white blouse drives me crazy.  For some reason, the ruffles on the sleeves always turn the wrong way and no matter what, they will not stay in the correct position.  It's fine when I'm wearing something over top but when I wear the blouse by itself, myself and everyone around is constantly trying to turn them the other way.

white ruffle sleeve blouse - Papaya
black bead necklace - Walmart
black 3/4 cardigan - Boscov's
black skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
cabernet essential chinos - Amazon
faux suede and snakeskin pointed toe flats - Payless

Wednesday
This outfit is simple but I liked that the polka dot belt added just a little more interest.  Lately I've really been enjoying wearing my skinny belts for some reason and this one is particularly cute.

pink tie neck blouse - Kohl's
black cardigan - Banana Republic Factory
black and white polka dot skinny belt - Walmart
light fawn essential chinos - Amazon
black pointed toe cap toe flats - Payless

Thursday
I tell you, layers are the way to go in Florida.  We had a training to attend this morning and the room could not have been more than 65 degrees Fahrenheit.  We were all freezing and they were passing out jackets and sweaters.  I put on the raincoat in my backpack and my cardigan, and while I was still cold, I wasn't in as bad of shape as most others.  Then when we got back to our office, I had a huge heap of moving boxes that a coworker gave me that I had to load into my car in the sweltering summer heat so I shed the cardigan and was hot but not unbearably so.  A simple cardigan thrown in your bag makes such a difference!

black blouse with pink and red flowers - Papaya
red cardigan - Kohl's
black skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
boulder gray essential chinos - Amazon
black cap toe pointed toe flats - Payless

Weekly Goal Update: June 11-17

June 11 - 17

My life could slow down any time now and that would be great!  Within forty-eight hours of listing our house, we were under contract.  And all of that happened while I was in Boston for work!  Now we need to find a place to move to and fast!  We’ve decided to rent in the area we think we would like to buy to be sure we’re happy there before we commit to buying, since the area is an hour away from where we’re currently living and that’s a big change.  So now we’re on the hunt for a house to rent.  I also moved offices this week from one town to another and we’ve started the process of purging our belongings and packing them all up.

1. Make healthier food choices.
I tried to make good choices this week while traveling by grabbing healthier snacks at the airport like bananas and watermelon.  By I also ate my fair share of junk because when your plane gets delayed and your next flight is boarding, hunting down fruit takes more time than grabbing Chic-Fil-A!  So this week was a real mix of healthy and total junk.

2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  Exercise has just not been a priority lately with all the other things we’ve had to do.  But I squeezed in a bit while doing all the other crazy things this week.  Particularly, on Sunday while our house was being shown to prospective buyers, we went to the mall and just walked around.  I also made a point to walk to dinner in Boston on Monday instead of taking the shuttle.

Sunday: 41 minute walk
Monday: 11 minute walk
Tuesday: - -
Wednesday: - -
Thursday: - -
Friday: - -
Saturday: 36 minute walk

Total: 53 minutes

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
Once again, I nailed this goal with 10,000 steps seven days this week.  My best day was Sunday with 15,628 steps.  My total for the week was 79,795 steps.

4. Go to sleep earlier.
🚫  Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 10:40:23PM.  But to be honest, the real story is worse than that.  Sunday night we got our first offer on the house and things got real very fast and I could not fall asleep until almost 2AM and I had to get up for my flight at 3:30!  Then a late night on Monday in Boston because of our late dinner and a late night on Tuesday because our flight home was so late meant I was exhausted all week.  Luckily, I’m on four ten hour work days for the summer and I got to sleep in a little on Friday before taking our kitty to the vet for oral surgery.  She’s fine but just had some bad teeth because she’s getting old.

Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:18:24PM.  All that madness during the week meant I was ready to sleep this weekend.  I went to bed early every night and woke up pretty early too so I’m hoping I’ll be able to slide right back into my weekday schedule tonight.

5. Leave some wiggle room.
Caffeine and junk food were the story of this week!  The company that flew us out to Boston spoiled us with an amazing and delicious five course meal including filet minion.  I also indulged in a feast of fried appetizers at a retirement party and also inhaled a Chic-Fil-A fried sandwich and waffle fries on my way to our last flight.  I ordered a fried chicken sandwich and fries at Outback with my hubby and by the middle of the week was feeling really lousy!  It’s amazing how what you eat and drink really affects how you feel and I was quite happy to be back home and get back to drinking more water and eating healthier food.

6. Progress towards goal?
This week I lost another 1.0 pound.  I’m not even really sure how because I ate so much garbage.  I know I wasn’t actively exercising but I’ve still been really active with purging and packing so maybe that’s it?  Or maybe stress?  I’m not going to worry too much about it because I know I’ll probably gain whatever I’m losing as soon as we get into a more settled and normal life again but it’s something I’m trying to monitor because I don’t want to lose too much weight and put myself into an unhealthy place.  There’s a fine balance between healthy weight loss and too much weight loss.  Plus all my pants are falling off of me now and I do not want to buy a bunch of new pants!

Outfits of the Week: June 12 - 15

At this point I feel like it's redundant to say it was a crazy week but it definitely was!  I spent Monday and Tuesday in Boston for work.  During the time that I was gone, we received three offers to buy our house and accepted one!  We're now under contract.  When I went back to work on Wednesday, I unpacked and moved into my new office and Thursday I worked all day and then went to a retirement party.  Since this week started our summer work hours, we worked ten hours Monday through Thursday and are off on Friday.  I wish I could say that Friday was slower but we had to take my cat to the vet for surgery to remove some bad teeth.  Busy!

Monday
Day one of travel consisted of a 7:00AM flight to Boston.  I knew time would be tight so I took Monday and Tuesday's pictures in advance.  Then I ended up having to change my shirt at the last minute on Monday because I spilled something on it!  It turned out later to just be water but I didn't have time to investigate before heading to the airport to catch my early flight.  I wanted something that was comfortable for two early morning flights and a long day of meetings but still looked semi professional and able to be layered.  Chinos, loose blouse, boat shoes, and a cardigan to toss over and I was out the door.

burgundy blouse - Beall's Outlet
mineral blue essential chinos - Amazon
grey cardigan - Kohl's
nautical stripe boat shoes - Amazon

Tuesday
Another day of meetings and flights so I wanted the same sort of outfit.  I recycled the cardigan so I didn't have to pack as much, since we were only allotted a carry on and personal item.

black and white shatter blouse - Kohl's
grey cardigan - Kohl's
moss essential chinos - Amazon
black and white boat shoes - Amazon

Wednesday
After several nights in a row of very little sleep, I was exhausted this day and still had to go to work so I wanted more comfy clothes.  Chinos and boat shoes!

navy pintuck blouse - H&M
brown buckle belt - Beall's Outlet
walnut essential chinos - Amazon
nautical stripe boat shoes - Amazon

Thursday
And on Thursday I was to dress in a theme for a retirement party: black and white!  Since the party was outside, it was easy to remove the cardigan and be party ready.

black and white blouse - Papaya
black skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
black essential chinos - Amazon
black captoe pointed toe flats - Payless

Bonus!  Some pictures from my trip to Boston!

Weekly Goal Update: June 4-10

June 4 - 10

Another crazy week!  More cleaning, meeting with the bank, realtors, photographers, marketing, viewing houses, listing our house, and clearing the house for showings.  Hopefully this house sells for what we’re hoping it will.  I tell you though, buying and selling a home is stressful business.  Let’s see how I did with my goals while dealing with all the stress and madness.

1. Make healthier food choices.
I was so busy this week I barely had time to think about junk food.  I ate healthy for the most part because I was too busy to think much about what I was eating and just grabbed for the healthy stuff we had in stock.

2. Exercise five days a week for thirty minutes (or a total of 150 minutes per week, 2.5 hours).
🚫  We finally got ahold of the treadmill company and cancelled our order.  Apparently it shipped partway to us, got damaged, and then they cancelled the order without ever telling us so we just decided to wait until we know where we’ll be living before trying that again!  While I was really busy this week, I got very little “official” exercise.

Sunday: - -
Monday: - -
Tuesday: - -
Wednesday: 28 minute walk
Thursday: 43 minute walk
Friday: 22 minute walk
Saturday: - -

Total: 1 hour, 34 minutes

3. Get 10,000 steps six days a week.
I got way more steps than that just from being so busy with all the cleaning, prepping and other work to get our house ready to show.  Sunday I got 17,317 steps just by cleaning and painting and Monday I got 18,089 doing the same.  I even got 15,913 steps on Friday!  Holy cow!  While I got less official exercise this week, I was definitely way more active than normal with a total step out of 95,041.

4. Go to sleep earlier.
🚫  Goal: Weeknights between 9:00PM and 9:30PM
My actual average bed time for weeknights was 9:54:52PM.  Too much to do and not enough time to do it!

🚫  Goal: Weekends between 10:00PM and 10:30PM
My actual average bed time for weekends was 10:54:15PM.  One night staying up until after midnight getting everything finished up kicked our butts.

5. Leave some wiggle room.
Another week of using caffeine as a substitute for sleep.  I hope things slow down soon but I don’t see that happening any time in the near future.  Meanwhile, I need to just go to bed earlier.  Then there was also Friday night, where we were exhausted, had nothing for dinner, and pigged out on Taco Bell.  Nom.

6. Progress towards goal?
This week I lost another 0.6 pounds, which means I’m down about a pound and a half below my goal weight.  I plan on pigging out a bit in the next week to try to get back up to weight because right now all my pants are falling off of me and I don't want to buy all new pants!  All the additional activity without many more additional calories probably contributed to my weird weight loss the last couple of weeks.  I don’t anticipate that sticking around though, because I have to travel for work for the next two days and the company has paid for all of our meals and you know they’re going to be good.  I plan on indulging in hopes of getting my weight back up where I want it.  Overly baggy pants are not flattering.

Ipsy Glam Bag: June 2017

My June 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag came in the mail today and I'm really excited to share with you what I got!  I think this is my favorite bag yet!

Ipsy
Speak Your Mind Lips Bag
$??
This bag is really cute and seems to be of decent quality, though it is very small.  I can definitely see myself using it for something though!

Luna by Luna Cosmetics
Eyeshadow in Jace
$15.00 (1.5 g)
[link]
This is a matte rose colored eyeshadow.  I'm not sure how I feel about using it as an eyeshadow, but I think it would make a beautiful blush.  I'll have to give it a try and see how I like it.  It definitely swatches nicely though and I'm excited to have a matte eye shadow to try.

SPF Rx
Ultra-Clear Daily Skin Hydrator with SPF 50
$8.63 for 0.42 fl oz ($34.95 for 1.7 fl oz)
[link]
This might seem silly but I'm really excited to try this!  I've been looking for a moisturizer with a high SPF but all the ones I've tried either break me out in hives or don't agree with my skin in one way or another.  Hopefully this one is compatible, although if I like it, it's pretty expensive.

NYX Professional Makeup
Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé in Plush
$6.00 (for 0.27 fl oz)
[link]
Another item I'm really excited about getting!  I just generally love experimenting with lip products and anything NYX usually rocks my world.  Hopefully the color works for me but it looks pretty neutral and universally flattering.

Beauty For Real
I-LINE 24-7 Eyeliner in 24 Karat
$14.00 for 0.28 g
[link]
Another awesome product!  I wouldn't normally go for a metallic gold eyeliner but I think this could look really pretty as a lower lash liner.  It will all depend on how well it stays put!  We can't have lower liner smudging and running down the face in these hot and humid summer days.

theBalm Cosmetics
Balm Springs Blush
$2.99 for 0.8 g ($21.00 for 5.61 g)
[link]
And another thing I'm thrilled to receive!  I've always been curious about theBalm's blushes but I've never bought one myself.  This color looks really pretty and like the sort of blush I would go for.  My only concern is that it is so small!  It's the size of a small single eyeshadow and I'm wondering how hard it will be to get a brush in there.  The pictures made it look so much bigger in my Ipsy preview.  However, this tiny blush is the perfect size for the overnight trip I'm taking for work this week!  It might end up coming with me if it works out with a brush.

Total Value: $46.62 + bag

Conclusion: I am so happy with my bag!  I think that's probably because it's almost all makeup.  And for the most part, I think the makeup items that I got are things that I will end up liking.  Score for Ipsy Glam Bag this month!

Outfits of the Week: June 5-9

Another crazy week!  It's already getting late today and I've got another busy day tomorrow so let's break down the outfits so I can get some much needed sleep.

Monday
This day I took off from work to clean and paint before the realtors came the next day.  This is what I wore when I had to run out to Lowe's for more paint.  Throw on some clothes, throw the hair in a ponytail and run out the door!

black boyfriend tee - JC Penney's
denim capris - Kohl's
black grasshopper boat shoes - Amazon

Tuesday
This day I had several meetings one after the other.  It was raining cats and dogs so I took advantage of cropped pants to keep the bottoms of my pants from getting all wet.

mustard fox blouse - Papaya
navy cardigan - Kohl's
brown belt - Beall's Outlet
olive cropped chinos - Walmart
brown buckle flats - Rack Room Shoes

Wednesday
More rain this day.  Going with a skirt keeps my legs dry and these flats are really good at repelling the water.

black and white blouse - Kohl's
black open front blazer - Charlotte Russe
black skinny belt - Beall's Outlet
red skirt - Kohl's
black captoe pointed toe flats - Payless

Thursday
This day we were scheduled to have our standardized test scores released and I knew I'd be sitting at the computer for hours populating spreadsheets of data so I just wanted something comfortable.  Also, more rain.  Ugh.

cobalt blouse - Kohl's
white cardigan - Kohl's
black and white polka dot skinny belt - Walmart
boulder gray chinos - Amazon
black captoe pointed toe flats - Payless

Friday
On Friday, I had to pack up my office and move everything so I wanted sensible shoes that wouldn't cause me to file a workman's comp claim.  And comfortable clothes to easily move.  Most of the time I wore this without the cardigan because it was so hot but I got all of my stuff out of my old office and into the new office.  Unpacking will have to wait for another day, as someone is living in my new office until next week.
