I just wanted to take a minute to update anyone who was wondering where I've been.  The week before Thanksgiving, I was at technology training three days out of five for work that week and then we finally got our iPads on Thursday!  It made for a busy but exciting week.  We're hoping the students in our classes will be able to get their iPads before Christmas but we're waiting for the drop-proof cases to come in before the kiddos get their hands on them.

Then Monday the 25th was my oral surgery that I talked about here.  It went fine but I was pretty tired and hocked up on pain pills.  Tuesday I was sick as a dog from not eating and taking all sorts of medication so I finally had to force some food down my throat so I would stop getting sick.  Basically, I spent Monday through Thursday snuggled up in a ball on my couch sleeping with my cats.  By Thursday, I was starting to feel okay and actually ate a (soft) Thanksgiving meal with some friends of ours.  Yesterday I was feeling pretty much back to normal so hubby and I went out and did some Christmas shopping and started decorating for the holidays!  I'm feeling fine now but just busy.  Thanks to the people who were concerned!  I should have some fun posts for you in the next few days.

Braces Timeline

Adult braces update: Also known as the story that never ends...

March 17, 2011 I had my braces put on.

April 2011 Had surgery to remove my wisdom teeth and to remove my two baby canine, or eye teeth, and bond chains to begin moving the adult teeth into place.

April 2012 My left canine was completely in place and that half of my smile looked perfect.  Also, I got the bottom braces on finally and began straightening them out.

October/November 2012 Found out that the right canine was not moving at all.  Had a titanium screw implanted into the roof of my mouth to try to move it into place using more force at a different angle.

March 2013 Just about at the two year anniversary of my braces, I found out that the screw was not working either and that tooth would have to be surgically removed.

July 2013 I went to the oral surgeon for a consultation and decided to have the surgery, then close the gap with the braces.

September 2013 Insurance denied my surgery claim, stating that not all of the paperwork was submitted.  Uh huh.  Resubmit the paperwork and wait some more.  >:(

November 2013 Insurance finally approved my claim and I will have the surgery next Monday, November 25th!

Can I just say how thrilled I am to finally feel like there is a light at the end of this tunnel?  I have felt so insecure for the past two and a half years over having these giant gaps in my smile and I am so excited that I feel like I am finally getting closer to a resolution.  The left side of my smile still looks great but the right side... is a hot mess.  I can't wait to get moving on that side too!

Haircut & Avatar

A couple of weeks ago I got my haircut and never got around to posting pictures of my new do.  But I only have one decent picture to share so I figured I'd make it a dual post and also share some other fun.  For the website I set up for my class, it was recommended that we make an avatar as our photo so whenever the students see that photo, they know it was something posted by the teacher.  So I used this website to make a fun cartoon avatar and I used my haircut photo as the inspiration.  It's like a little cartoon Barbie of me!  :D

This is actually not what I intended for my hair to look like when I went in for a trim, but I ended up liking it.  The layers are much shorter than what I wanted, but I think it makes my hair more interesting that way.  I'll probably start letting them grow out when I get my hair cut next time, but for now it's fun and different.  The bad part is the way they fall right now makes me fight my hair to lay nicely.  Too much work for this lazy girl!

Two Outfits

Last week was really busy so I'm thrilled to say I was off today and spent the whole lay lounging around the house being lazy.  It feels so good to relax!  It was such a busy week that I only had the foresight to snap pictures two days.  I don't even remember what two days it was, LOL!

Outfit 1:
- gray cardigan from Target
- pink patterned infinity scarf from Bealls Outlet
- black straight leg chinos from Walmart
- pink faux suede flats from Body Central

Outfit 2:
- white scoop neck tee from Target
- cadet blue sequin cardigan from Target
- white scarf, gift from a student
- camel straight leg chino pants from Walmart
- black bow flats from Bass Outlet

On Thursday of last week, I got to go to one of our first of several iPad trainings.  The teachers on my team are all going to become 1:1 iPad classrooms before Christmas of this year.  That means all of the teachers and their students will have an iPad!  I love technology and having the chance to do something new with the kids is really exciting.  It's been a little extra work for me trying to get the website up and running where everything will be pushed out to the kids but I've had a blast doing it!  We're just about ready to go so now all we need is for the iPads to come!  It will be a lot of fun and in the long run it should end up being less work for us teachers.  No more spending hours every week waiting in line to make copies!

I am so happy it's November!  Bring on the turkey, Thanksgiving, and then the holiday season.  Also, I'm looking forward to some days off in November since my last day off was Labor Day.

- white 3/4 dress shirt from Kohl's
- leopard scarf from Walmart
- burnt olive straight leg chinos from Walmart
- brown knot flats from Rack Room Shoes

Yup, this is another pair of these straight leg chinos!  So comfortable and go with everything!

- fuchsia ribbed sweater from Target
- blue patterned scarf from Bealls Outlet
- black straight leg chinos from Walmart
- black bow flats from Bass Outlet

No, it was not cold this day here in Florida.  I actually was at a training all day Tuesday and every time I have a training at this location, I know to bundle up because the air conditioning is freezing.  It was over 80 degrees this day but I ended up wearing this the whole time, with my jacket and a blanket.  Yea, it's that bad.  Also, these pants are actually black but blogger has an issue where it changes the color of some photos.  I'm just too lazy to fix it.

- mint plaid camp shirt from Kohl's
- cobalt teardrop necklace from Bealls Outlet
- navy straight leg chinos from Walmart
- mint flats from Vanity Fair Outlet

I had originally planned on wearing a skirt this day but I was so not feeling it when I got dressed.  I was too lazy to shave my legs or wiggle into nylons at five AM so I threw this outfit together at the last minute and I like the way it turned out.

- green plaid shirt, American Eagle brand thrifted from Goodwill
- black straight leg chinos from Walmart
- black bow flats
(In 2nd Photo)
- lab coat from Uniform Outlet
- stethoscope from Walgreens

This day was Halloween and my team all decided to dress like doctors.  I bought a stethoscope and wore the labcoat I already own for some of our more messy science labs.  I had a few other fun accessories that I taped and stapled to my lab coat later (a fake bloody eye and bloody ear, a fake syringe, name tag and doctor symbol) but I didn't have time to take another picture.  Yes, these are the same pants I wore Tuesday.  I didn't get a chance to hem the ones I planned to wear this day.  Oh well.

On Friday, I just wore jeans and my school polo shirt.  Not really worth sharing.
